The May 8 show at Bordello was fabulous! First of all, the look of the club is gorgeous. It's velvet-red-gold-ornate-baroque-fin-de-siecle-decadant loveliness.

I was the opening act. I stripped some gloves to start the show in honor of it being a former brothel, then I played a mixture of my interpretations of songs including Squeezebox, Autumn Leaves, Friend of the Devil, and Rock 'n' Roll Part 2, as well as a couple original songs, Lovely Discords #1 & I Look Down. My set was very well-received, and I had a great time performing. Friends and fellow musicians made me feel like a star at my first significant gig!

Next up was Vermouth, who had kindly invited me to open for them. They were phenomenal! Great textures, moods, lyrics....lots of fun. There was lots of dancing in our seats at my table of friends. We hooted, screeched, cawed, and the like when the band requested jungle animal sounds. Vermouth is a super-talented group of musicians, with a number of them switching places and instruments (bongos, trumpets, toy xylophone, as well as guitars, bass, keyboard & drums) on different songs. See them.

Erich von Kneip and his band took the stage next, and Erich crooned his sweet songs of sorrow with guitar, bass, violin, and drums providing swingingly smooth sounds. He's even got a cd.

Elena Degl'innocenti & band rounded up the evening with her lovely voice and rich complex jazz tunes. My favorite line in one of her songs was about eating too much cookies and getting fat.

The evening was especially great because, although each act was completely different and unique, they all complimented each other.
